PHOTO ESSAYS: The Blue Planet Run

The Blue Planet Run Foundation travels the world on foot carrying the message that 1.1 billion people lack safe drinking water. Its worldwide marathon run involves 21 international runners, 24 hours a day, 95 days, 15,200 miles, and 26.7 million strides. My assignment was to capture the event as the run came through Chicago, and to give a behind-the-scenes look at the logistics needed to make it happen. Some of the images were reproduced in a beautiful book, the royalties of which will support its efforts.
